Patriotic Cupcakes

Ingredients
For the Cupcake Batter
- 1 package white cake mix (regular size) Use your favorite brand.
- 1/2 teaspoon blue food coloring Adjust amount for desired shade.
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring Adjust amount for desired shade.
For the Frosting
- 1 can vanilla frosting (16 ounces) You can substitute with cream cheese or chocolate frosting for variations.
- 1 cup red, white, and blue sprinkles For decoration.
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a cupcake pan lined with paper liners.
Make the Batter
- In a large mixing bowl, follow the package instructions for the white cake mix, mixing with eggs, water, and oil until well combined.
- Divide the batter into three portions.
- In a small bowl, mix 1 and 1/3 cups of the batter with blue food coloring until vibrant.
- In another bowl, mix 1 and 1/3 cups of batter with red food coloring.
Fill the Muffin Cups
- Carefully fill each paper-lined muffin cup with the batter: start with 2 tablespoons of red batter, add 2 tablespoons of plain batter, and finish with 2 tablespoons of blue batter.
Bake the Cupcakes
- Place the filled muffin pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 to 24 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Frosting
- Once baked, cool the cupcakes in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, spread the vanilla frosting on top of each cupcake and top with red, white, and blue sprinkles.
