  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature for easier blending.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Spoon in and level off for accuracy.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Can use different types of chocolate chips.
  • Optional: colorful sprinkles or heart-shaped candies for decoration

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about two inches apart.
  • If desired, sprinkle colorful sprinkles or place heart-shaped candies on top of each cookie for a festive touch.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden, and the center is still soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
