Ingredients
  

Soup Base

  • 1 piece turkey carcass Use leftover carcass from a roasted turkey.
  • 10 cups water Enough to fully immerse the carcass.

Vegetables

  • 2 medium carrots, chopped Add natural sweetness to the broth.
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Enhances the soup's aroma.
  • 1 leaf bay leaf Adds flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme For a herby note.

Seasoning and Garnish

  • Salt and pepper to taste Season the broth to your liking.
  • Fresh parsley for garnish Enhances presentation and adds freshness.
  • Optional: leftover turkey meat, chopped Add for extra heartiness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place the turkey carcass into a large pot and cover it with approximately 10 cups of water.
  • Add chopped carrots, celery, onion, minced garlic, bay leaf, and dried thyme.

Cooking

  • Bring the pot to a rolling boil, then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer.
  • Let the soup simmer for about 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove the carcass and large vegetable pieces from the pot.
  • Once the carcass is cool enough to handle, pick off any remaining turkey meat and chop it into bite-sized pieces.
  • If using, add the leftover turkey meat back into the soup.
  • Strain the soup through a fine mesh sieve, then season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

For a richer flavor, roast the turkey carcass before using it. Sauté the vegetables for extra depth. Personalize your soup with other herbs, spices, or vegetables as desired.
