Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 stick Unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 3 cups Powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir to combine.
  • Add buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • While the cake bakes, prepare the frosting: In a saucepan, melt butter and cocoa powder together over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and enough milk to reach your desired frosting consistency.
  • Once the cake is done, remove from the oven and pour the warm frosting over the hot cake, spreading it evenly.
  • Let the cake cool before cutting it into squares and serving.
