Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking Sheets
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sweet potatoes (about 2 medium-sized)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil or coconut oil
  • 2.5 tsp cornstarch
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.25 tsp chili powder
  • 0.5 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1-2 tsp sea salt (or seasoned salt like Lawry’s)
  • 2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley optional
  • 0.33 cup mayonnaise for dipping sauce
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 0.5 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 tsp paprika

Instructions

  • Peel sweet potatoes and slice them into matchstick-sized fries, about ¼ inch thick.
  • Soak the fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes (or overnight) to remove excess starch.
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Drain and dry the sweet potato fries thoroughly using paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, mix cornstarch, garlic powder, chili powder, and black pepper.
  • Toss sweet potato fries with oil, then add the spice mixture and coat evenly.
  • Spread fries out on the baking sheets in a single layer without crowding.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, flip with a spatula, and return to the oven for another 12-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • While fries bake, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and paprika to create the dipping sauce.
  • Once fries are done, sprinkle with sea salt and parsley, then serve hot with the dipping sauce.
