Waffle Batter

  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced Use fresh strawberries for best results.

Preparation

  • Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not over-mix; a few lumps are okay.
  • Gently fold in the sliced strawberries, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  • Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a small amount of oil.

Cooking

  • Pour the appropriate amount of batter onto the preheated waffle iron, using a ladle or measuring cup.
  • Cook according to the iron’s instructions until the waffles are golden brown and crispy.
  • Carefully remove the waffles and place them on a plate. Repeat with the remaining batter.

Serving

  • Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
