Sticky Sweet Chili Chicken Thighs

Ingredients
  

For the chicken

  • 8 pieces bone-in chicken thighs Skin-on for best results.
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil For seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

For the glaze

  • ½ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel to eliminate any excess moisture.
  • Season each thigh generously with avocado oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Cooking

  • Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket skin side down and cook for 15 minutes.
  • While the chicken is cooking, mix together the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and oyster sauce in a small bowl to prepare the glaze.
  • After 15 minutes, carefully flip the chicken thighs over and baste them with the sweet chili sauce mixture.
  • Cook for an additional 10 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • For a crispier texture, turn on the broil setting for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, watching closely to prevent burning.

Serving

  • Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve the chicken over jasmine rice and add your choice of vegetables on the side.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

For best results, always preheat your air fryer. Adjust seasoning and consider adding red pepper flakes for heat or honey for a sweeter glaze.
