about 1 inch for steaming
Instructions
Wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly under running water and scrub lightly with a vegetable brush.
Fill a large pot with water to a level just below the steamer basket, about 1 inch.
Bring the water to a rolling boil on the stove.
Place the steamer basket over the pot and add the whole sweet potatoes, ensuring they don’t touch the water.
Cover the pot with a lid and steam the sweet potatoes for 25 to 35 minutes, or until fork-tender.
Remove the pot from heat and let the sweet potatoes sit for 5 minutes to cool slightly.
Slice each sweet potato in half and add your favorite toppings, such as olive oil, cinnamon, or honey.
