Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg Use room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For Decoration

  • Buttercream frosting Enough to layer and decorate.
  • Sprinkles For decoration.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • In another bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and white sugar using an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, mixing thoroughly.
  • Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture to form a thick yet pliable dough.

Baking

  • Using rounded teaspoonfuls, roll the dough into small balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Flatten each ball gently to create a surface for frosting.
  • Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool completely on wire racks.

Decoration

  • Spread buttercream frosting between layers of cookies to form small tree shapes.
  • Decorate with sprinkles as desired.
