Main Ingredients

  • 15 ounces chow mein noodles Cook as per package instructions.
  • 3 tablespoons butter For sautéing the garlic.
  • 3 cloves minced garlic Adds flavor to the sauce.
  • 2 pieces red Thai chili peppers Adjust spice level as desired.
  • 3 tablespoons white miso paste For the creamy sauce.
  • 0.75 cup low-fat milk
  • 0.75 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce For added spice.
  • 2 teaspoons everything bagel seasoning For garnish.

Preparation

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add chow mein noodles and cook according to package instructions, about 4-5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add minced garlic and one whole red Thai chili pepper, stirring for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Chop the second chili pepper finely and add to the skillet. Stir in miso paste, breaking it down to combine.
  • Pour in low-fat milk and heavy cream, then add Sriracha. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.

Combine and Serve

  • Discard the whole chili pepper from the sauce. Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  • Divide into servings and sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat with added moisture to prevent drying.
