  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced Use ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Can be replaced with cooking spray for greasing.
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional) Can be omitted if desired.

For Serving

  • Ice cream or whipped cream (optional) Enhances flavors when served on top.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the sliced bananas with half of the sugar, stirring gently to combine. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar.
  • Add the melted butter, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon (if using) to the bowl with the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
  • Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Evenly spread the banana mixture over the batter.

Baking

  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving.
