  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Use spoon-and-level method for accurate measurement.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For softer cookies, consider chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Don't overmix the dough after adding dry ingredients. Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain softness.
