  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs Use room temperature eggs.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons hot water To activate baking soda.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Use high-quality chocolate chips.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, dissolve baking soda in hot water and add it to the dough along with the salt.
  • Gradually stir in flour until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking pans, leaving space for spreading.

Baking

  • Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 10 minutes until the edges are lightly browned and the centers are soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the pans for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
