Ingredients
  

  • 5 grams dried active yeast
  • 170 ml warm water
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 330 grams plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 olives chopped small for eyes
  • 1/3 piece orange pepper for the tongue
  • 6 drops extra strong food color gel we used green
  • 3 tablespoons water to mix food color with
  • 1 tablespoon sesame or nigella seeds optional

Instructions
 

  • Mix warm water with dried active yeast in a bowl and stir until bubbles form.
  • Add olive oil to the yeast mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, sift plain flour and mix in salt.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients and knead until smooth.
  • Cover the dough with a cloth and let it prove for about one hour.
  • Knead the dough gently and divide it into 50-gram pieces. Roll each piece into a snake shape.
  • Wrap the rolled dough around wooden kebab sticks, leaving space between twists.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Mix food color gel with water and brush over the baked breadsticks.
  • Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Once cooled, gently twist out the sticks and decorate with olives for eyes and orange pepper for the tongue.
