Preparation

  • Place the chicken breasts directly into the slow cooker.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine barbecue sauce, diced onion, minced garlic, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  • Pour the mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker, ensuring the chicken is well-coated.

Cooking

  • Secure the lid on the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Check the chicken periodically and ensure it becomes tender enough to shred.

Shredding and Serving

  • Once cooked, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  • Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and mix with remaining sauce before serving.
