Ingredients
  

Meat and Beans

  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained

Vegetables

  • 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Spices and Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until fully browned, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  • Transfer the browned meat to your slow cooker.
  • Add the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, and minced garlic to the slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle in the chili powder and cumin, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Cooking

  • Stir the ingredients gently in the slow cooker to combine.
  • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.

Serving

  • Serve the chili in a bowl, adding toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, or jalapeño slices as desired.

Notes

For added flavor, consider sautéing the vegetables before adding them to the slow cooker. You can also mix different types of ground meat or beans for variation.
