Ingredients
  

Dumpling Ingredients

  • 20 pieces Dumpling wrappers
  • 1 lb Ground chicken or beef Use chicken for lighter flavor.
  • 3 cloves Minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp Grated ginger Freshly grated for the best flavor.
  • 4 stalks Chopped green onions Reserve some for garnish.
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil Adds a nutty flavor.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh cilantro Chopped, optional for garnish.

Soup Components

  • 4 cups Broth (chicken or vegetable) Homemade broth recommended for flavor.
  • 2 medium Carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup Mushrooms, sliced Any variety works.
  • 2 cups Spinach or bok choy Optional for extra greens.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp Chili oil (optional for spice) Adjust according to spice preference.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat with minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and fresh cilantro. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Take a dumpling wrapper and place a small spoonful of the filling in the center. Wet the edges with water and fold the wrapper over, pressing to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.

Cooking

  • In a large pot, heat the broth over medium heat. Once it begins to simmer, add the sliced carrots and mushrooms, cooking for 3-5 minutes.
  • Gently add the prepared dumplings to the pot. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the dumplings float and are cooked through.
  • Add spinach or bok choy and cook for an additional 2 minutes until wilted.
  • Taste the broth and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with extra green onions and a drizzle of chili oil if desired.

Notes

For best flavor, use a well-seasoned broth. Allow dumplings to cook gently in the broth for even cooking. You can store the soup in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for longer storage.
