Cookie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it is softened, not melted.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed Use dark brown sugar for richer flavor.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use high-quality chocolate chips for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce Adjust amount for desired gooeyness.
  • to taste pinch additional sea salt for sprinkling Sprinkle on top before baking.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and sea salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, combining until just blended; avoid over-mixing.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and salted caramel sauce until evenly distributed.
  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop portions of the dough onto the baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Sprinkle a tiny pinch of sea salt over each cookie dough ball.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
