  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • Red food coloring (optional)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, followed by mixing in the buttermilk.
  • If desired, add a few drops of red food coloring.

Combine and Bake

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the white chocolate chips evenly.
  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until edges are set and centers appear slightly soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
