  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts Opt for organic or free-range for better flavor
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Your favorite brand or homemade
  • 1 cup chicken broth or stock
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Preparation

  • Prepare your crockpot by placing the chicken breasts at the bottom.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Pour the sauce over the chicken breasts in the crockpot, ensuring they are well coated.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot with its lid and set it to low heat. Cook for about 6 to 8 hours, or for 3 to 4 hours on high heat.
  • Once the cooking time is complete, carefully remove the chicken breasts and shred the chicken using two forks.
  • Optionally, return the shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir it with the sauce for a final mix.

Notes
