Preparation

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the milk and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir gently until heated through, but do not allow it to boil.
  • Once warm, add the chocolate chips and stir continuously until they are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the peppermint extract. Adjust the peppermint to your taste preference.
  • Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top each with whipped cream.
  • Garnish with crushed peppermint candies and serve immediately.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute cow’s milk and heavy cream with almond milk and coconut cream. Store leftover hot chocolate in the refrigerator for 2-3 days and reheat before serving.
