  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips Use good quality for richer flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 to 1 ½ teaspoons peppermint extract Adjust to taste.
  • Whipped cream For garnish.
  • Crushed peppermint candies For garnish.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and a heavy-bottomed large pot.
  • Add heavy whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and milk chocolate chips to the pot.
  • Place the pot over medium-high heat and cook, stirring occasionally. Aim for a light boil, which should take about 10 minutes.
  • Once boiling, remove the pot from heat and stir in peppermint extract, whisking gently until incorporated.

Serving

  • Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream and crushed peppermint candies.
  • For a casual serving, keep the pot on low heat for guests to serve themselves.

Notes
