Ingredients
  

Crust Ingredients

  • 1 package Oreo cookies (about 15 cookies)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Filling Ingredients

  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure it is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream Chill the mixing bowl and beaters for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • as needed Red food coloring (optional) For a festive appearance.
  • as needed Crushed peppermint candies for topping For decoration and flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  • Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a resealable plastic bag and using a rolling pin.
  • Combine the crushed cookies with melted butter until you achieve a thick, moist consistency.
  • Transfer this mixture to a 9-inch springform pan and press firmly to create a crust.

Filling

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth and free of lumps.
  • Add heavy whipping cream and peppermint extract; whip until light and fluffy.
  • If desired, add red food coloring and mix until evenly distributed.
  • Pour the filling over the crushed Oreo crust in the springform pan and smooth the top.

Baking and Chilling

  • Bake the cheesecake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, until the center is set but slightly jiggly.
  • Allow the cheesecake to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight.

Serving

  • Remove the outer ring of the springform pan and cut slices with a sharp knife, cleaning the blade between cuts.
  • Serve each slice on a festive plate, garnished with whipped cream and crushed peppermint candies.
  • Pair with a warm beverage for a cozy treat.
