Ingredients

Pasta and Sauce

  • 8 ounces mostaccioli or a similar pasta
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped onion, chopped
  • 1 28 ounce jar spaghetti sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 4 ounce can mushrooms, drained

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.

Cooking

  • In a large pot, bring lightly salted water to a rolling boil. Stir in mostaccioli pasta and cook uncovered for 8 to 10 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned and the onions are translucent, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Combine the browned beef, spaghetti sauce, mozzarella cheese, and drained mushrooms in a large mixing bowl. Add the cooked pasta and mix well.
  • Pour the mixture into the greased casserole dish, spreading evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  • Let the pasta bake cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Slice into portions with a spatula and serve directly from the casserole dish.

Notes

Pairs well with garden salad, garlic bread, or crusty rolls. Consider adding fresh herbs like basil or parsley as a garnish.
