Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 1 whole whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups buttermilk Marinate chicken for flavor and tenderness

For the Coating

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying For deep frying

Preparation

  • Marinate the chicken by soaking in buttermilk in a large bowl for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Prepare the coating by mixing flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper in another bowl.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).

Frying

  • After marinating, remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off.
  • Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated on all sides.
  • Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil and fry for about 15 to 18 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the fried chicken and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil before serving.

Serving

  • Serve the fried chicken hot, preferably with sides like mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or corn on the cob.

Notes
