  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparing the Dough

  • In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Add melted butter, eggs, orange zest, and orange juice to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
  • Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1-2 hours).

Shaping the Rolls

  • Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle (approximately 12x18 inches).
  • Spread softened butter over the rolled-out dough.
  • Sprinkle sugar and additional orange zest over the buttered dough.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into equal pieces (about 1-inch thick).
  • Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise again until doubled (30-45 minutes).

Baking and Glazing

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a few teaspoons of orange juice until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls once they come out of the oven.

Serve warm for best flavor. Pair with fresh fruits or coffee for a delightful breakfast experience. Leftover rolls can be stored in an airtight container or frozen for longer storage. Ensure yeast is fresh for optimal rising.
