Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use fresh, unsalted butter for best results.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs Make sure to bring eggs to room temperature for better mixing.
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest From about 1 orange.
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice Freshly squeezed for optimal flavor.
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Spoon and level for accurate measurement.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips Can substitute with other flavored chips.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract, orange zest, and fresh orange juice until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the white chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about two inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers still look soft.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use fresh ingredients. Chilling the dough can improve the texture. Experiment with different chocolate types or nut additions. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
