Filling:
- 8 large Honeycrisp apples peeled, cored, and sliced
- ¾ cup light brown sugar packed
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons butter sliced
- ¼ cup apple juice
Topping:
- 15.25- ounce box yellow cake mix
- ½ cup butter melted
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until the apples are evenly coated. 
- Transfer the mixture to a greased crockpot. 
- Drizzle vanilla extract and apple juice over the apple mixture. Dot the apples with butter slices for a rich flavor boost. 
Step 2: Add the Topping
- Even sprinkle the yellow cake mix over the apple filling. Make sure to distribute it evenly for consistent baking.
