Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces tubular pasta (such as penne or rigatoni)
  • 1 cup small mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
  • ½ cup black olives (sliced thinly)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves (torn)
  • to taste salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Warm the marinara sauce gently in a saucepan. Optionally, add herbs or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
  • Take the mozzarella balls and place a slice of black olive on top of each to resemble an eyeball's pupil.
  • Toss the drained pasta with the marinara sauce until fully coated.
  • Arrange the pasta on a serving platter or individual plates. Place the mozzarella eyeballs on top, spacing them evenly.
  • Sprinkle torn basil leaves over the dish and season with salt and pepper to taste.
