Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder Use high-quality culinary matcha for best results.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips Optional, for added sweetness and texture.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just blended.
  • If desired, fold in the white chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked but will firm up as they cool.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, individually wrap and freeze for up to three months.
