Marshmallow Rice Bubbles Halloween Brains

Easy and fun Halloween treats made with Rice Bubbles and marshmallows, shaped like brains.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls:
  • Bain-Marie or Double Boiler
  • Toothpick

Ingredients
  

  • 85 g unsalted butter
  • 6 cups regular marshmallows (pink or white)
  • 4 cups Rice Bubbles (or puffed rice cereal)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Red food coloring (a drop or more)

Instructions
 

  • Set up a Bain-Marie: Boil ½ cup of water in a pot, then place a heat-proof bowl on top. Add butter and marshmallows to the bowl.
  • Stir continuously for 2–4 minutes until you get a silky-smooth mixture. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in salt and add red food coloring a drop at a time until the desired color is achieved.
  • In a large bowl, prepare the Rice Bubbles. Pour the warm marshmallow mix over the cereal and fold quickly to coat.
  • Let the mixture cool slightly, then oil your hands and shape the mixture into oval forms. Use a butter knife to create a shallow groove down the middle.
  • Dip a toothpick in food coloring and trace squiggly veins on the surface for decoration.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, separated by wax or parchment paper.
