Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is at room temperature.
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar Use light or dark brown sugar based on preference.
  • 2 large eggs Should be at room temperature.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract is recommended.

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour Sifted for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips You can also use milk chocolate if preferred.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts Use walnuts or pecans for a great flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

Adding Mix-ins

  • Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes
