Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened but not melted.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Adds depth of flavor.

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Consider using whole wheat flour for added fiber.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips Opt for high-quality chocolate for best flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend into the butter mixture.
  • Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between cookies.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown and centers are slightly soft.
  • Allow to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes
