Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Icing

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for icing, optional
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup for icing, optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and set it aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, maple syrup, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; you want the batter to remain light and fluffy.
  • Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bars cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Icing (Optional)

  • If you wish to add an icing, whisk powdered sugar with maple syrup in a small bowl until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled donut bars.
