  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg Replace with flax egg for vegan option.

Add-Ins

  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts Optional add-in.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well and set aside.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the melted coconut oil, applesauce, brown sugar substitute, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth.

Mixing

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the dark chocolate chips and nuts if using.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges start to brown slightly.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
