Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate according to package instructions, ensuring it fits snugly.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onions in a bit of olive oil until they become translucent. Add the cooked mushrooms and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until combined.

Assembly

  • Spread the onion and mushroom mixture evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the onions and mushrooms.
  • Carefully pour the egg mixture over the cheese and vegetables, allowing it to fill the pie crust.
  • Gently tap the pie plate on the counter to settle the filling and release any air bubbles.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the quiche is set in the center and the top is golden brown.
  • Let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
