  • 1 lb ground beef Use high-quality beef for best flavor.
  • 1 each onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes Opt for high-quality canned tomatoes.
  • 8 cups beef broth
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles, broken into pieces Feel free to use other pasta shapes.
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust seasoning to preference.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese For creaminess and flavor.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese For garnish.
  • Fresh basil for garnish Adds color and flavor.

Preparation

  • Heat a large pot over medium heat and add the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and break it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add crushed tomatoes and beef broth to the pot. Stir in the broken lasagna noodles, dried basil, and oregano. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for about 20 to 30 minutes or until noodles are tender.
  • Once the noodles have softened, stir in shredded mozzarella cheese until melted and integrated into the soup.
  • Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.

Notes
