Ingredients
  

Wonton Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to substitute with other cheese types for variations.
  • 2-3 pieces fresh jalapenos, finely diced Adjust quantity based on preferred spice level.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper Add to your preference.

Wrappers and Frying

  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • as needed Oil for frying Vegetable or canola oil works best.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, diced jalapenos, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
  • Take a wonton wrapper and place about a teaspoon of the cheese mixture in the center.
  • Moisten the edges of the wonton with a little water.
  • Fold the wonton in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal.
  • For added security, you can crimp the edges with a fork.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • Once hot, carefully add the wontons in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy, usually about 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.

Serving

  • Serve warm and enjoy with dips like creamy ranch dressing or zesty salsa.

Notes

For healthier options, consider baking the wontons at 375°F until crispy. They can also be assembled and frozen for up to three months before frying.
