Ingredients

For the filling

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Make sure it's at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese.
  • 2-3 pieces jalapenos, finely chopped Adjust based on spice preference; consider adding seeds for extra heat.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the pastry

  • 1 package puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1 piece egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: breadcrumbs for extra crunch

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheese, and chopped jalapenos. Mix in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well blended.
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into strips, about 1 inch wide.

Assembly

  • Spoon a small amount of the jalapeno mixture onto one end of each pastry strip.
  • Roll the pastry around the filling, twisting it as you go to form a spiral shape. Seal the ends to ensure the filling doesn’t escape.
  • Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with breadcrumbs if desired.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the twists are golden brown and puffed up.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
