  • 1/2 cup yogurt (plain or Greek) Provides creaminess.
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice Adds tanginess.
  • 1-2 pieces green chilies Adjust based on heat preference.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey Optional, adjust sweetness to taste.
  • to taste Salt To enhance flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon roasted cumin powder Optional, adds earthiness.
  • a few sprigs fresh coriander leaves Optional for garnish.

Preparation

  • Wash the fresh mint leaves thoroughly to remove any dirt or grit. Pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  • In a blender or food processor, add the mint leaves, yogurt, lemon juice, and green chilies.
  • Blend the mixture until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency. If it’s too thick, you can add a little water to thin it out.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the sweetness and salt according to your preference. If desired, incorporate roasted cumin powder for an earthy flavor.
  • Once everything blends well, transfer the sauce to a bowl or airtight container. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

For the best results, use fresh mint instead of dried. Adjust the amount of green chilies to suit your spice tolerance. Blend with yogurt for creaminess while enhancing nutritional value. Prepare ahead of time for the flavors to develop.
