Ingredients
  

For the Cake

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt or sour cream For added moisture
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable or canola oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup boiling water To thin the batter

For the Layers

  • 1 1/2 cups hot fudge sauce To layer the cake
  • 48 oz container of ice cream Choose your favorite flavors, softened

For the Topping

  • 1 cup heavy cream For whipped cream topping
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar To sweeten the whipped cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8 or 9-inch baking pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add Greek yogurt (or sour cream), buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, then mix until smooth.
  • Carefully stir in boiling water until combined and pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.

Baking

  • Bake for approximately 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.

Layering

  • Spread a thin layer of hot fudge sauce over the cooled cake.
  • Spread softened ice cream over the fudge layer and freeze until firm.

Topping

  • In a separate bowl, beat heavy cream until soft peaks form, then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  • Spread the whipped cream over the ice cream layer, adding any additional toppings like sprinkles or chocolate shavings.

Final Freeze

  • Freeze the cake with whipped cream topping for about a week or without for 2-3 months.
