Ingredients
  

For the Chili Base

  • 1 lb ground beef Use 80/20 ground beef for optimal flavor.
  • 1 small onion, chopped Sauté until translucent.
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 15 oz can kidney beans, drained and rinsed Can be substituted with black or pinto beans.

For Seasoning

  • 2 tbsp chili powder Adjust to taste for more heat.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Check label for gluten-free options.

Instructions
 

Cooking the Chili

  • In a large skillet, heat over medium heat and add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks until browned (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  • Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-5 minutes until translucent.
  • Pour in the tomato sauce and add the kidney beans.
  • Stir in chili powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
  • Increase heat until the mixture simmers, then reduce to low and cover. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning as desired before serving.

Notes

Serve over hot dogs in buns; consider toppings like shredded cheese, diced onions, jalapeños, and sour cream. This chili can be frozen for future meals.
