Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water Divided for mixing with gelatin
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
  • Flavor extracts (like mint, lemon, or cherry) To taste
  • Food coloring (optional) For color customization
  • Powdered sugar For dusting

Preparation

  • Combine the granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over a quarter cup of water and let it bloom for about five minutes.
  • Once the sugar mixture reaches a boil, add the bloomed gelatin and stir continuously until fully dissolved.
  • Remove the pan from heat and divide the mixture into three separate bowls.
  • In each bowl, add different flavor extracts and optional food coloring, mixing well.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish or silicone molds.
  • Allow the gumdrops to set at room temperature for at least four hours.
  • Once set, remove from the dish and cut into desired shapes. Dust with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.
  • Store in an airtight container.

Notes

To keep gumdrops fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature. Separate different flavors with parchment paper if desired. They should last about 2 to 4 weeks.
