Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed The riper the bananas, the sweeter the bread.
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup Choose one as a natural sweetener.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (or alternative flour) Use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.

Mix-ins

  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips (optional) To enhance flavor, consider toasting the nuts.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, yogurt, eggs, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth and fully combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. If desired, fold in the chopped nuts or chocolate chips at this stage.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
