Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, 1 cup of water, egg whites, and vegetable oil. Whisk until smooth.
Grease and prepare an 8-inch cake pan and pour in the batter, spreading evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool.
In a mixing bowl, beat together shortening and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until fluffy.
Once the cake is cool, frost it with a thin layer of white frosting.
Use a piping bag to decorate the cake with swirls or rosettes.
To create the blood splatter, dip a clean toothbrush or your fingers in red food coloring and flick it onto the cake.
