Ingredients

For the Ground Beef:

  • 1 pound of ground beef lean or regular – (~450 g)
  • 2 cloves garlic minced – (~6 g)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 4-5 medium-sized potatoes – ~700-800 g
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream – ~120 g
  • Salt and pepper to taste – adjust to preference
  • 1/2 cup milk optional – (~120 g)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Mashed Potatoes

  • Peel and chop the potatoes into 1-inch cubes. Place them in a pot, cover with cold water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until tender. Drain and return the potatoes to the pot. Add butter, heavy cream, milk (if desired), and season with salt and pepper. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy, adjusting the seasoning to taste.

Step 2: Cook the Ground Beef

  • Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon (about 7-10 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed, then add garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 3: Combine and Serve

  • Serve the ground beef mixture over the mashed potatoes. Optional: Top with shredded cheese, peas, or gravy for extra flavor.
