- 1 bag 30 oz frozen hash browns (850 g)
- 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup (300 g)
- 1 cup sour cream 240 g
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese 200 g
- 1/2 cup chopped onion 75 g
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
Prepare the Ground Beef
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up into small pieces, until it’s browned (5-7 minutes).
Season the Beef
Once the beef is browned, stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
If you’re using onions, add them now and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the onions are softened and translucent.
Combine the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture with cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and 1 ½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese.
Stir in the frozen hash browns and mix everything together thoroughly.
Assemble the Casserole
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Transfer the beef mixture into the dish, spreading it out evenly.
Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of shredded cheese on top.
Bake the Casserole
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden.
