Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 4 slices slices of bread Hearty, flavorful bread like sourdough or whole grain recommended.
  • 2 tablespoons butter For spreading on the bread.
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar or your choice) You can mix and match different cheeses.
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato soup Canned tomato soup can be used.
  • 1 cup water or milk For adjusting soup consistency.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season according to preference.
  • Optional: fresh basil or croutons for garnish Use to enhance presentation and flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread generously.
  • Place two slices of bread in the skillet, buttered side down.

Adding Cheese

  • Lay cheese slices on top of the bread in the skillet.
  • Butter the remaining two slices of bread and place them buttered side up on top of the cheese.

Cooking the Sandwich

  • Cook the sandwich until the underside is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Carefully flip the sandwich over and cook until the other side is golden and cheese is melted.

Preparing the Soup

  • In a saucepan, combine the can of tomato soup with 1 cup of water or milk.
  • Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until warm, and season with salt and pepper.

Serving

  • Slice the grilled cheese sandwiches diagonally and serve with the warm bowl of tomato soup.
  • Optionally garnish the soup with fresh basil or croutons.

Notes

For storing leftovers, refrigerate grilled cheese in an airtight container for up to three days, and tomato soup for up to a week. Reheat grilled cheese in a skillet to maintain texture.
