For the Cake

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 3.4 oz box chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • cups mini chocolate chips
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt

For the Filling

  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk

For the Ganache

  • 4 oz heavy cream
  • 4 oz German chocolate chopped

For the Frosting

  • 3 large egg yolks lightly beaten
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1⅓ cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch pan. Mix the cake ingredients in a bowl until smooth, then fold in mini chocolate chips.

Step 2: Bake the Cake

  • Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 30-35 minutes. Let it cool for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Poke and Fill

  • Poke holes across the cake and pour sweetened condensed milk over it, letting it soak in completely.

Step 4: Make the Ganache

  • Melt German chocolate with warm heavy cream, whisking until smooth. Spread the ganache over the cooled cake.

Step 5: Prepare the Frosting

  • Cook evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, and butter until thickened, then mix in coconut and pecans. Cool and spread over the ganache.
