  • 4 to 5 slices slices of bread (whole wheat, brown, multigrain, or white)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (salted or unsalted)
  • 3 to 4 cloves garlic (peeled, minced, or grated)
  • 100 grams mozzarella cheese or 1/2 cup grated cheese (cheddar, processed, or a mix)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper Add more or less to suit your taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional) For a bit of heat
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry oregano Or any dried herbs you like
  • Salt Only if using unsalted butter

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).
  • Slice the chosen bread into pieces about 0.75 inches thick.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter with minced garlic and add salt if using unsalted butter.
  • Spread the garlic butter mixture generously on each slice of bread.
  • Top each slice with grated cheese, using mozzarella, cheddar, or any preferred cheese.
  • Sprinkle ground black pepper, red chili flakes, and oregano over the cheese.

Baking

  • Place the prepared bread slices on a baking tray and bake for 5 to 6 minutes until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted.

Serving

  • Allow the garlic cheese bread to cool slightly before serving and enjoy it hot.
